Doris "Dot" Callahan, age 87

Doris "Dot" Callahan, age 87, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2015.

She was born April 15, 1928 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Charles and Ada Price Lavender. Dot worked for many years as a waitress at Gardo's Restaurant and later for the Cracker Barrel Convenience Store. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Callahan, sisters, Mae Hughes, Blanche Davis, Georgina Carpenter, and Jean Butler, brothers, Yates Lavender and Paul Lavender.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Callahan and wife Susan of Forest City, Byron Jack Callahan and wife Stephanie of Rutherfordton, a daughter, Kristine Callahan Rudow and husband Roger of Bethlehem, GA, a brother, Brent Lavender and wife Barbara of Caroleen, and sister, Sue McKeithan of Bostic. There are six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Family and friends celebrated the life of Doris Callahan at a memorial service directed by her family held in The Padgett and King Chapel.
