Dorothy L. Duckworth, age 76, of Forest City, passed away Monday, August 14, 2017.

Born June 29, 1941 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter to the late William Kirby Luckadoo and Celie Mae Carver Luckadoo. She was a graduate of Cool Springs High School, class of 1958. Dorothy worked in textiles for several years. She had a heart for others, which motivated her to become a CNA and to work in home healthcare. Dorothy was a member of Long Branch Road Baptist Church and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, canning, painting, going to yard sales and reading her Bible. She loved her family dearly and especially the time she spent with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-one years, Ernest Duckworth; five siblings, William Worley Lookadoo, Madge Marie Melton, Glen Franklin Lookadoo, Sr., James Barry Luckadoo and Richard Dwight Lookadoo.

Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Cynthia Jackson and husband, Brian, Carrie Tilley and husband, Rodney and Patricia Lovelace all of Forest City; one sister, Barbara Campbell and husband, Walter "Buddy" Campbell of Rutherfordton and a sister-in-law, Betty Atkins Luckadoo of the Duncan's Creek Community. She is also survived by six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was conducted at the Long Branch Road Baptist Church with Reverend Jerry Ruppe and Reverend Wesley Smith officiating. Interment followed in Eternal Hills Memorial Park.
