Dorris McKinney Edwards, age 100

Dorris McKinney Edwards, age 100 of Ellenboro passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017.

Dorris was born June 5, 1917 in Rutherford County and was the last surviving of the ten children born to the late John Alexander and Johnnie Price McKinney. Dorris lived most of her adult live in Charlotte where she worked as a secretary for Mr. John Belk in the office of Belk's Department Store for forty years. Following retirement she and her husband returned to Rutherford County where she attended Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church in Ellenboro.

In addition to her siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, Walter Heath Edwards who died in 2008.

Survivors include a niece and several nephews as well as a number of great-nieces and great-nephews which were very special to her.

Funeral services were held in The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend Michael Sepaugh and Elder Ralph Dale officiating. Interment followed in the Bethel Baptist Church beside her late husband.
