Doug Francis, age 65

Doug Francis, age 65, of Forest City, NC, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016.

Born August 17, 1950 in Rutherford County, he was a son to the late Elmer Gene Francis and Jaunalda Kennedy Francis. He worked in textiles for several years and was the co-owner and operator of Francis Grading for the last twenty-five years. He was a faithful member of Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church and an active member of the Grounds Committee.

Survivors include his loving wife of thirty-seven years, Mary Upton Francis; two sons, Douglas Todd Francis and wife, Sharon of Forest City and Danny Gene Francis of Ellenboro; sister, Jane Downey and husband, David of Forest City and brother, Neil Francis and wife, Beth of Ellenboro; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Francis of Forest City. He is also survived by five grandchildren, and two great-grandsons.

Funeral services were conducted at Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Billy Poe Jones and Reverend Mike Cash officiating. Interment followed in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
