Dr. James Nall, age 75, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2015.

He was born in Pahokee, FL. He was the son of the late Beder Euclid Nall and the late Vera Nell Lasitter Nall. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother John Lee Harper and a sister Faye Nall Taylor.

James was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War where he served in the United States Marine Corps for twenty years. He was a helicopter and jet pilot and retired with the rank of Major. Dr. Nall was an Associate Professor of Marketing and Management at Godbold School of Business at Gardner-Webb University.

James was a kind and generous husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is survived by his wife Penelope Nall. Four Daughters: Damian Persinger of Ft Lauderdale, FL. Tina Broglin of Eustis, FL. Bridgette Mahair of Brooksville, FL. Patricia Coplon of Austin, TX. Two Sons: Paul Dickerson and his wife Linda of Rutherfordton. Pete Dickerson and his wife Dianne of Rutherfordton.

Five Grandchildren: Danielle Aryn Broglin, James Silas Truman Dickerson, Michael Patrick Capability Dickerson, Ryan Christopher Coplon, Aubrey Anna Coplon. Two Great Grandchildren: Aryn Van King & Johnny Berry Bates IV. One Sister: Naomi Burch Smith and her husband Lance of Azle, TX.

The funeral service was held in the Dover Chapel of Gardner-Webb University with Dr. Tracy Jessup and Dr. Van Graham officiating. Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery

Arlington, VA at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gardner-Webb University, PO Box 997 Boiling Springs, NC 28017.

McMahan's Funeral Home & Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
