Duke Energy Renews Support For Fantastic Fridays

The Duke Energy Foundation has renewed its support for KidSenses' Fantastic Fridays program for 2018. Admission is free the first Friday of each month, and on these days, museum is open from 9am to 8pm. Over 7,000 children and their families have participated in this program since it began in 2015.

Willard Whitson, Executive Director of the museum, says, "We are very grateful to the Duke Energy Foundation. Their support for Fantastic Fridays ensures that economic circumstance is not a barrier to admission. In addition, this program is a wonderful way to introduce the museum to families who are new to our community. Our population is growing, and we want to be sure that these families know what a rich resource KidSenses Children's Interactive Museum is. We also want them to know that KidSenses itself is growing. We are now developing plans to expand our facility by creating THE FACTORY, an addition designed to engage youth age eleven into their teens. When completed we will have a 26,000 square foot campus."

Many of the museum's exhibits and programs have a STEM focus. "Duke Energy is committed to supporting activities for youth that stimulate interest in STEM topics. Knowledge in these areas can enable children in our region to succeed in the future workplace", said Craig DeBrew, District Manager for Government and Community Relations of Duke Energy of the Carolinas."

The Duke Energy Foundation makes charitable investments on behalf of Duke Energy, the largest electric power holding company in the United States with 7.2 million customers in six states. Duke Energy Foundation invests $25 million annually for community support and charitable contributions.

KidSenses Children's Interactive Museum is located at 172 N. Main Street. Museum hours are Tuesday-Saturday 9am-5pm. Closed on Sunday and Monday. KidSenses general admission price is $8 per person age one and over, and $6 for seniors 62 and up. Active military are $6.
