Earl J. Pariseau, age 90, of Rutherfordton, passed away July 10, 2019.

Earl was born in Methuen, MA on August 14, 1928. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cyril and Susan Pariseau and his older brother Godfrey (Perry) Pariseau. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Calhoun Pariseau; brother and sister in law, Raymond and Linda Pariseau of Boone, NC; daughter, Tricia Pariseau of Boynton Beach, FL; son Scott Pariseau of Bell, FL; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; step children, Scott Calhoun and Carolyn Calhoun Edgerton; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Earl served in the US Army Medical Corp during the Korean War, and was a disabled veteran. Using the GI Bill, he received his A.A. from St. Petersburg Junior College, B.A. from University of Florida, and studied abroad at Mexico City College, Mexico, D.F. and his M.A. in International Relations from American University, Washington, D.C. In addition, he attended Foreign Service Institute, Arlington, VA for language training in Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese.

Earl was Editor in Chief, Handbook of Latin American Studies, published by University of Florida Press; Assistant Director of Hispanic Foundation, Library of Congress Field Director, Library of Congress, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Director of Hispanic Division, Library of Congress. He was President and CEO of Way-Lo Rent-A-Car, Inc., Miami, Florida rental and leasing. He served as President of the Auto Rental Association of South Florida, was a licensed NC General Contractor and Real Estate Broker, owner of Mountain Top Construction and Realty and Vacation Rentals in Seven Devils, NC.

A Memorial Service to celebrate and give thanks for the life of Earl will be held at Brittain Presbyterian Church, 3456 US Hwy 64, Rutherfordton, NC 28139 on Saturday, July 27, 2:00pm.

The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in Earl's name to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.

Crowe's Mortuary and Crematory is serving the family.
