Eldon Reid Humphries, age 87

Eldon Reid Humphries, age 87, of Rutherfordton, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017.

He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late Horace Reid Humphries and the late Alice Agnes Radford Humphries. Eldon was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Okinawa, Japan with the Army Corps of Engineers. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Rutherfordton and a 32nd degree Mason in the Rutherfordton Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. Eldon retired from G.F. Business Equipment as Manager of Engineering and also worked for Amenities Limited and Butlers Jewelry. He was preceded in death by one brother Joseph William Humphries.

He is survived by his wife: Rachel Hodge Humphries. One daughter: Jane Humphries Blanton and husband Gary. One son: Phillip Eldon Humphries and wife Pamela Atchley Humphries. Three grandchildren.

The funeral service was held at Calvary Baptist Church in Rutherfordton with Reverend Rick Wall and Reverend Bryan Hardin officiating. Interment was held at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery. Military Honors were given by the Rutherford

County Honor Guard.
