Elsie Blice Hoffman, age 87

Elsie Blice Hoffman, age 87 of Forest City, passed away July 5, 2016.

Elsie was born August 16, 1928 in Youngstown, Ohio to her parents, the late Christ and Julia Thumm Reber. She was an educator in the Rutherford County Schools where she taught at Sunshine, Ellenboro and finally Union Mills where she retired.

Elsie attended Isothermal Community College for two years and went on to receive her Bachelor's Degree from Gardner-Webb College and later received her Master of Arts from Appalachian State University. She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Forest City where she had served on various committees and was an Elder of the Church. Her interest in community and civic matters involved her in the Rutherford County Republican Party where she had served as President. Elsie also served at the state level of the party on committees that were appointed by the Governor. She was also active and supportive of Yokefellow Center helping those less fortunate. Her husband, Bruno Hoffman preceded her in death.

Survivors include three sons, William Blice and his wife Pam of Forest City, Chris David Blice and his wife Debbie of Pittsboro, NC, and James Richard Blice of London, England. There are also three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Becky Stanley officiating. Interment followed in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park.
