Facebook hosts Fourth Annual Middle School Art Contest

Facebook's Forest City Data Center hosted an awards ceremony on May 15 for winners of its Fourth Annual Middle School Art Contest.

"I'm amazed every year by the artwork," said Keven McCammon, site manager, at the Facebook Forest City Data Center. "As you will see, it was very challenging for the judges to choose the winners."

There were 145 entries in the contest this year, McCammon continued, and students were asked to express through their artwork how Facebook helps its billion-plus users share life events with the world. The contest was open to all middle schools in Rutherford County. The 20 winners will have their artwork displayed inside the Facebook Forest City Data Center for one year.

Following the presentation of awards, students and their parents, teachers and principals toured the data center. Each winning student received a Facebook sticker and sunglasses, and the first, second and third place winners received an additional gift.

Winners and the schools they represent are:

Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy- Mason Smith (first place), seventh grade; Jacob Herndon (third place), seventh grade; Windham Teddy, seventh grade; Ashley Scruggs, seventh grade; Sunshine Parton, eighth grade; and Emily Shroyer, eighth grade

R-S Middle- Tanesha McDowell (second place), eighth grade; Loki Ryan, eighth grade; Ashanna Thompson, eighth grade; Caleb Long, seventh grade; Dauston Brackett, seventh grade; Sarah McClellan, seventh grade; Andrew Roach, sixth grade; Cole Garner, eighth grade; Cameron Hill, sixth grade; Chase McSwain, seventh grade

Chase Middle- Andrew Montgomery, eighth grade; Haley Granger, seventh grade; Karah Ruppe, sixth grade

East Middle- Peyton Jackson, seventh grade
