Forrest "Robby" Ivey Robertson II, 69, of Rutherfordton, passed away on February 2016.

Born on October 2, 1946, he was a Rutherford county native and the son of the late Forrest Ivey Robertson and late Ardell Morgan Robertson.

Robby was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and passed his love for the UNC Tar Heels down to his children. He was a beloved history teacher at Harris Elementary School and had a lasting impact on his students many years later. Robby is fondly remembered for his love of doo-wop music, record collecting, playing the piano, Turner Classic movies, and golf.

Surviving Robby are his wife, Debbie Martin Robertson, and four children, Forrest Robertson III and wife Kathryn (Kit), Amanda Toney and husband Brian, Derek Robertson, and Kayla Robertson. His family also consists of his nine grandchildren.

A service to celebrate Robby's was held at Rutherfordton Presbyterian Church. Robby was laid to rest at Brittain Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Rutherford County P.O. Box 336 Forest City, NC 28043 or Rutherfordton Presbyterian Church 252 N. Washington Street Rutherfordton, NC 28139.

Crowe's Mortuary is assisting the family.
