Forrest Yates Toney, Sr., age 84

Forrest Yates Toney, Sr., age 84 of Bostic, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016.

He was a native of Rutherford County and a son of the late Yates and Lona McFarland Toney. Forrest worked in sales for most of his career having spent over twenty years with Cowan Tire & Battery and in later years working for himself. He was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, a graduate of Sunshine High School class of 1951, was a former member of both the Optimist Club and the Forest City Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Hollis Masonic Lodge No. 535 AF&AM. He also served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Curtiss at the end of the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nancy Condrey Toney, a son, Forrest Toney, Jr. of Ellenboro, three daughters, Beverly Toney Hudson and Cindy Toney Thompson both of Bostic, Myra Toney Waters of Casar, a brother, Hubert Toney of Kings Mountain, and three sisters, Ruth Newton of Rutherfordton, Nell Earley of Forest City and Barbara Toms of Shelby. There are also 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was held in the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church with Reverend Paul White officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
