Fred B. McCurry, Jr., age 68

Fred B. McCurry, Jr., age 68, of Mooresboro, NC, passed away Monday, June 30, 2014.

Born April 23, 1946 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Fred B. McCurry, Sr. and Myrtise Guffey McCurry.  He was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1964. Fred served in the US Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked as a production manager for Nestlé’s Frozen Food Division in Gaffney for many years and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He was also a member of the VFW Post #423.  Fred enjoyed coaching little baseball, auto racing and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty years, Connie Hovey McCurry.

Survivors include three sons, Freddie B. McCurry III and wife, Susan of Rutherford County, James Chad McCurry and wife, Jill of Waxhaw, NC and William “Billy” McCurry and wife, Brandie of Mooresboro; sister, Bette Jo Lowery and husband, Bo of Forest City. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Graveside services were conducted at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with Mr. Joe White officiating. Military honors were accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
