Freddie H. Clay, age 84, of Mooresboro, NC, passed away Tuesday, November, 2012.

Freddie was born February 9, 1928 in Cleveland County, NC to the late John Wesley Clay and Martha Angle Clay.  He worked in textiles most of his life and was a Baptist.  He enjoyed tinkering with small engines and other kinds of mechanical devices.  He was known as a people person who enjoyed country music and dancing.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Elizabeth Lail Clay; one daughter, Rebecca Jane Wall; three brothers, Earl Clay, John Clay, Jim Clay; five sisters, Jean Clay Botts, Lois Oakley, Chanie Thiesen, Georgie Lloyd and Eva Clay and one grandson, David Hartman.

Survivors include two daughters, Vickie Rayfield of Cliffside and Jeannie Lovelace of Henrietta; one son, Mike Clay and wife, Kay of Pelzer, SC; eight grandchildren, Tonya Rayfield, Curtis Rayfield, Glenda Ogren, Steven Clay, Tameka Clay, Amber Owens, Dewayne Rayfield, Cassandra Vaughn; eighteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Tony Rayfield officiating.  Interment followed in Sunset Cemetery of Shelby, NC.  

Harrelson Funeral Home is caring for Mr. Clay’s Family.
