Freedom Fest at McNair Field

The first-ever Freedom Fest, a joint collaboration between the Towns of Rutherfordton, Forest City and Ellenboro, the Forest City Owls and Rutherford County Chamber was held on July 4th at McNair Field. The free festival included fun and games - like cornhole, pie eating contest and hamburger eating contest - for children and adults as well as a patriotic walking parade. Members of the Owls got in on the fun with cornhole and Wii games provided by Coca-Cola. The daylong event ended at 3, but was followed by the Forest City Owls vs. Gastonia Grizzlies game and fireworks.
