Gail Patricia Frasheur Rhyne, age 67

Gail Patricia Frasheur Rhyne, age 67 of Ellenboro, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015. 

She was born May 21, 1947 in Forest City & was the daughter of the late C. B. Frasheur, Sr. & Myrtle Coffey Frasheur. Pat was reared in the Florence Baptist Church of Forest City. As she traveled with her husband’s work, she attended Youngsville Baptist Church in Youngsville. She was a member of the Sanctuary Choir, the Handbell Choir, & taught the Senior Adult Ladies Sunday School Class.


Pat was an educator, having earned her Degree in Education from Appalachian State University, & her Masters of Education from East Carolina University in Greenville. Her teaching career spanned several states & included Youngsville Elementary School for 20 years, a brief stint in the Shelby City Schools & finally to Rutherford County Schools where she taught at Union Mills, Pennacle, & Forrest Hunt Elementary Schools.

She was a member of Delta Kappa Gama Sorority where she had served as State President in the 1980s, & was named Franklin County Teacher of the Year. Pat enjoyed civic involvement & improvement with her work on the Rutherford Hospital Auxiliary working in the ICU & Surgical Waiting Room assisting patient families & was best known for working in the Hospital Gift Shop. She was a volunteer with Hospice of Rutherford County in the Respite Care Program, & was a member of the Ellenboro Women’s Club as well as the Ellenboro Depot Restoration, the Ellenboro Christmas Parade & Ellenboro Big Day Celebration every Fourth of July. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, C. B. “Buddy” Frasheur, Jr. & Billy Ray Frasheur. 

Survivors include her husband, Myron T. “Mike” Rhyne, 2 sons, Reverend Michael L. Rhyne, Bishop of the Allegheny Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America & his wife, Karen of Hollidaysburg, PA, Erik Trevor Rhyne of Ellenboro. There are 3 grandchildren, Lillian, Ella, & Willa Rhyne.

The Funeral service was held in the Florence Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Bobby Gantt officiating, assisted by her son, The Reverend Michael L. Rhyne, Bishop. Interment followed in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request that memorial contributions be made to Florence Baptist Church, 201 S Broadway St, Forest City, NC 28043 or Hospice of Rutherford County, Post Office Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
