Garland Thomas "Tommy" Jackson, age 75 of Forest City passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016.

Garland was born July 20, 1941 in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Thomas Wayne Jackson and Marie Dalton Jackson. He worked for seventeen years with Burlington Industries and later worked for eight years as a technician for Stonecutter Mills Corporation where he retired. He was also a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church in Forest City. Garland was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Wayne Jackson.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Ann Hutchins Jackson, a son, Ricky Thomas Jackson and his wife Rita of Chesnee, SC, a daughter, Patricia Ann Jackson Curtis and husband William Gregory Curtis of Forest City, five brothers, Ronnie Jackson of Shelby, Franklin Jackson and wife Nancy of Bostic, William Jackson of Forest City, Charlie Jackson and wife Amy of Mooresboro, Jerry Jackson and wife Trudy of Spartanburg, a sister, Martha Hawkins and husband Ronnie of Mooresboro, as well as four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held in The Padgett and King Chapel. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.

The Padgett and King Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
