George Moss Bridges, 82, of Mooresboro, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2014. 

A native of Rutherford County, he was born on May 29, 1931, a son of the late Clifton Otis and Annie Laura Nanney Bridges. He was retired from Cone Mills Corporation - Cliffside Plant and member of Cliffside Baptist Church. George was also a United States Army Veteran having served in the Korean War, and was an avid horseman and golfer.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Pearson Bridges; one son, Scotty Bridges; brothers, C.B., Whitey, Otis Davis, Fred  and George’s twin brother Claude; two sisters, Margaret Hawkins and Dorine Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Camilla Jane Tate Bridges; two sons, Jimmy Scruggs of Cliffside and Ricky Scruggs and wife Mary of Duncan, SC; his daughters, Judy Sisk and husband Rev. Dean Sisk of Murfreesboro, TN, and Kelly Brown and husband Kevin of Cliffside; his sisters, Rachel Haynes and husband Lawrence of Sunset Beach, Virginia Dobbins and husband Buddy of Forest City; his grandchildren, Brandon Sisk and wife Jennifer, Josh Sisk and wife Megan, Elaine Ready and husband Jimmy, Maggie Prez and husband Alex, Rick Scruggsg and fiancee Haley Craft, Kacey Brown, and Jordan Blanton; his great-grandchildren, Lela, Wilson and Camilla Sisk.

A Celebration of Mr. Bridges’s Life was held at The A.C. McKinney Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Joey Cantrell and Rev. Dean Sisk officiating. Burial followed in Cliffside Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Raina Crowder for the loving care she gave George.
