George P. Howell, age 68

George P. Howell, age 68, of Mooresboro, NC, passed away Friday, November 22, 2013.

Born November 12, 1945 in Long Island, NY, he was the son of the late Chancey Howell and Teresa Cypher Howell.  He worked most of his life in construction as a roofer.  His passion was music, which included playing the guitar, singing, and working as a disc jockey.  He also enjoyed dancing.  George was a member of Plainview Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Inez Wess Howell of Shelby; son, Michael P. Howell of Long Island; two daughters, Kim Cootner also of Long Island and Dawn O’Connell of Port Orange, FL; nine grandchildren; two brothers and one sister.

A memorial service was conducted at Plainview Baptist Church with Reverend Marshall Dill officiating. Inurnment followed in the church cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC  28043.
