Gertie Fincannon Hill, age 92

Gertie Fincannon Hill, age 92, of Forest City, NC, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2013.

Gertie was born June 19, 1920 in McDowell County, NC to the late William Fincannon and Rhoda Lou Branch Fincannon.  She worked in textiles for many years and enjoyed sewing and quilting. She was a member of Caroleen Baptist Church. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roland E. Hill and one son, Howard Hill.  Survivors include three daughters, Joyce Shires and husband, Jerry of Rutherfordton; Grace McDaniel of Ellenboro and Ruth Womick of Forest City; two sons, Floyd Hill and wife, Joyce of York, SC. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services were conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Robert Harris officiating.  Interment followed in Eternal Hills Memorial Park.
