Glen Shelton, 85

Glen Shelton, 85, of Forest City, passed away Monday, July 23, 2018.

A native of Madison County, NC, he was the son of the late Zella Shelton Haynie. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and a US Army veteran. Glen loved Nascar, reading western novels, and the Atlanta Braves.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Garland Shelton and wife Jessica of Forest City; daughter, Joyce Padgett and husband Eddie of Shelby; one grandchild, brothers, Clay Haynie of Chuckey, TN and Dickey Haynie of Port Charlotte, FL. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gail Burnette Shelton; a granddaughter, and brother Don Haynie.

Funeral services were held at Harris Baptist Church. Rev. Eddie Padgett officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
