Grover Cleveland Haynes, Jr. 92

Grover Cleveland Haynes, Jr. 92, formerly of Cliffside went to his heavenly home November 25, 2016.

He was the son of the late Grover C. Haynes, Sr. and Ina Fortune Haynes of Cliffside. He and his beautiful wife, June White Haynes were married for 70 wonderful years until his passing. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, graduated from Clemson University in 1950, and then served in Korea for 1 ½ years. He then began his career in Civil Engineering and became a Professional Engineer in three states. He was General Manager of two companies, had his own Consulting Engineering company, and finally his own Material Supply company. He retired in 1986, but worked part time for 15 years managing a small Water System near Saluda, NC.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving sister Hazel H. Bridges of Cliffside, NC.

In addition to his wife left to cherish his memory are two sons, Philip Haynes and wife Frances of Mauldin, SC and Bruce Haynes of Greenville, SC; three granddaughters; two grandsons; six great granddaughters; niece Janice Swing and husband Mark of Cliffside.

A Celebration of his Life was held at Cliffside United Methodist Church, with Pastor Robert Hodgens officiating.

Final resting place will be at Cliffside Cemetery.
