Grover Richard Conard, Sr., age 74

Grover Richard Conard, Sr., age 74, of Shelby, NC, died, Saturday, June 16, 2018.

A native of Haywood County, NC, he was a son of the late Elbert Tine Conard and Sara Williamson Conard; a veteran, having retired from the US Army and deploying to Vietnam during the war, a former member of both Hopewell Ruritan Club and American Legion Post #423.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Willie Beatrice Newton Conard of the home, son, Grover Richard "Rick" Conard, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Vale, NC, daughter, Gayle Conard Alston and her husband Michael of Concord, NC, brother, Edwin Herman Conard and his wife Nora of Ettawa, NC, sister, Ellen Cynthia Hoots and her husband Vick of Edneyville, NC, and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at The Padgett & King Chapel, Forest City. Rev Eddie Conard officiated. Interment followed in the Cleveland Memorial Park, Shelby. Military honors were accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
