Hazel E. Smith, age 86

Hazel E. Smith, age 86, formerly of Ellenboro, passed away Friday, July 19, 2019.

Hazel was born August 19, 1932 in Rutherford County, to the late George Columbus Black and Lillie Mae Brooks Black. She worked in textiles and at Fair Haven Home for several years, but her passion was being a homemaker. She was known for being an excellent cook and enjoyed gardening. Hazel also enjoyed making necklaces and bracelets and giving them away to people she loved. She attended the Christian Worship Center in Mooresboro when her health permitted and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter L. Smith; son, Jerry Wayne Smith and a brother, James William Black.

Those left to cherish her memory include two sisters, Sara Bradley and husband, Bruce and Rita Waters and husband, Ronald all of Ellenboro; an uncle, Forest Melton of Bostic and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel. Interment followed in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
