The Rutherford County Health Department's WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Program provided nutritious snacks for health department clients on March 18 in honor of National Nutrition Month. "We have taken WIC foods and picked recipes that can be cooked with them," said Kim Keever, registered dietitian nutrionist. "We tried to choose recipes that went along with this year's theme of 'Savor the flavor of eating right.'" Foods offered to clients included a tropical fruit salad and a healthy macaroni and cheese. The WIC program would like to offer a snack day once each quarter so clients can try new, healthy foods. Sherri Chesney and Lisa Telischak worked to place fruit in bowls, and Benjamin Tannehill and Julian Mork enjoyed the mid-morning snack.
