Helen Marie Hampton, age 67

Helen Marie Hampton, age 67, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014.

Born March 16, 1947 in Polk County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Jeff Oliver and Julia Hammett Oliver.  She worked in various textile mills most of her life and retired from J.C. Cowan.  She was a member of Green Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed watching birds, working on word puzzles and especially spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, L.B. Oliver, J.C. Oliver, Fay Oliver and sister, Jo Taylor.

Survivors include her husband of forty-seven years, Bill Hampton; daughter, Rhonda Hampton Ruff and husband, Bud Jr.; sister, Judy Lane; two grandchildren, Billy Ruff and Harley Ruff all of Rutherfordton.

Funeral services were conducted at Green Hill Baptist Church with Reverend John Baker officiating.  Interment followed in the church cemetery
