Helen Medford Levesque, age 72

Helen Medford Levesque, age 72 of Forest City passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016.

She was born July 27, 1943 in Alexander Mills and was a daughter of the late Dewey and Ossie Medford. Helen worked for many years at Rutherford Hospital and later in retail sales for the Salvation Army. She also enjoyed playing ladies softball and had a long history playing with several area teams as well as being named Most Valuable Player in the World Softball Tournament in 1976. Helen was a devoted wife, and a loving mother and grandmother. Her son, Joseph "Jody" Levesque, brothers, Glenn, Ransom, and Doyle Medford and a sister, Dessie Medford Buckner all preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Levesque, a son, Kenny Levesque and wife Shanna of Maiden, NC, a daughter, Paula Levesque Rumple and husband Jeff of Statesville, NC, and five grandchildren.

A memorial service was held in The Padgett and King Chapel with Chaplain Cy Miller officiating.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to The Salvation Army, 305 N. Lafayette St. Shelby, NC 28150 or Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.

The Padgett and King Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
