Herman “Gene” Hensley, age 69

Herman “Gene” Hensley, age 69, of Bostic, NC, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013.

Gene was born May 23, 1944 in Rutherford County, NC to the Robert Creed Hensley and Laura Pansy Briscoe Hensley. He was a retired purchasing agent for Stonecutter Mills and a faithful member of Sunshine United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday School superintendent and song leader. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bruce Hensley of Union Mills.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of fifty years, Marie Hensley; two daughters, Angela Davis and husband, Bobby of Bostic and Sherry Walker and husband Billy of Forest City; two brothers, Arnold Hensley and wife, Lois of Union Mills and Boyce Hensley and wife, Mary of Spartanburg, SC; one sister-in-law, Nancy Hensley of Rutherfordton and two half sisters, Lockie Sailors and Bobby Joe Durham both of Texas.

He was also a loving grandfather to Shane, Ashley and Kala Davis and Kari, Brandon, Dusty and Nicholas Walker; and also to nine great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Teresa R. Blanton officiating. Interment followed in Sunshine United Methodist Church Cemetery.
