Men:

East Rutherford: The Cavs won all three games to take the Chesnee Christmas Tourney. It was a tough last two games of the touney as they barely escaped Woodmont behind a great effort from Isaiah Lathan in that game.

Somehow, they managed to beat the possible favorite in Westside the next night. Antonio Ledbetter showed up the following night as East (10-1) pushed a third quarter lead into double digits. They host an Australian team Friday.

R-S Central: The Hilltoppers got a big win against a very solid ACA team in the first round last week at Freedom. Jacob Knox, Elijah Carson and Ty Watkins were solid in that game. Unfortunately, they lost two close games including a devastating loss to Draughn, which they held a double digit lead. Still at 8-3, they are doing well despite the depth. They host Shelby on 1/11/19.

Chase (2-6): They lost 84-64 in the Cherryville at the Bud Black Classic to Bessemer City. They host Cherryville on Friday.

Women:

East Rutherford: The Lady Cavs made it to the finals and eventually won the tourney in Chesnee. Osha Makerson had 75 points in the first two games as the toughest battle they had was in the second game where they held on to beat Gaffney. Makerson came way with 41 in the win.

R-S Central: The Lady Hilltoppers (6-6) lost the opening game to East Burke, but managed to win two games in a row to salvage a positive Freedom tourney.

NFL Playoffs

Seattle at Dallas

Well, it's that time of the year again, where Dallas chokes in the playoffs. This round? The Seahawks are the most dangerous, but Dallas has continued to get better every week. I don't trust either team, but I wouldn't want to face either of them in postseason this year. Seattle is in the elements on the road if you think about it...a dome, loud stadium and Russell Wilson quarterbacking. Give me Seattle in the upset 30-28.

Indy at Houston

Yes, Houston has a good defense. They have the best combo threat in the game in Watson-Hopkins, but Indy I believe is more complete team right now. I really like Houston, but I can't pick them this time. Indy 31-27.

San Diego at Baltimore

We saw this game a couple of weeks ago in San Diego. Baltimore was everything and then some to handle. I know I am going to get back talk for this, but Baltimore isn't as strong offensively even with Lamar Jackson at quarterback...just yet. He makes a difference...no question. However, Chargers had no answer for that defense the last time and in being away...it is much tougher. Baltimore 20-10.

Eagles at Bears

Can Nick Foles do it again? The Eagles are in the postseason again as the defending NFC and Super Bowl Champs. Philly is playing better, but I don't they can hold up that pass rush by Chicago. The Eagles were a team you could believe in last year, but I don't believe in them. Bears 24, Philly 14.
