Horace Lee Cordell, age 89

Horace Lee Cordell, age 89, of Rutherfordton, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018.

He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late James Edgar Cordell and the late Eva Louise Walker Cordell. He was self employed as a heavy equipment mechanic and still enjoyed going to his shop or just talking about bulldozers and tractors. He will be remembered as a caring, gentle, and humble son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather,

father-in-law, uncle and friend. He loved to share conversation and stories of the past, and he loved to joke and laugh. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 64 years Ruby Ellen Arrowood Cordell, three brothers; James Cordell, Ernest Cordell and Frank Cordell and one sister Callie Ledbetter Harton. He is survived by: Two Daughters: Anna Cordell Hicks and husband Michael of Greenville, SC Catherine Cordell Dalton and husband Clyde of Rutherfordton. One Son: Donald Wray "Bo" Cordell and wife Rebecca of Rutherfordton. Five grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

The funeral service was held at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev Ad Hopper officiated. Interment will be at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, Forest City.
