Street rods and muscle cars will rumble into the Rumbling Bald Resort this weekend during the 19th Annual Vintage Tin Car Show.

This year would've been the 20th annual event, which is sponsored by the Vintage Tin Street Rod Association, but the group is considering it its 19th because last year's event was a wash out.

"We had to cancel last year for the first time," said Michael Blanton, president of the Vintage Tin Street Rod Association. "So, this would actually be our 20th year, but it's only our 19th due to the weather."

Either way, the annual show has had longevity, drawing more than 200 cars that must be at least 30 years old or older.

"We have had folks come from all over the Eastern United States - Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama," Blanton said. "There's always a broad spectrum of cars."

The Vintage Tin Street Rod Association began as a group of friends who had old cars and were into street rods, he explained. The club continues today to sponsor the show and promote the love of classic cars.

"I restore and build hot rods by trade," Blanton said. "My dad got me into car restoration."

Those who attend the free show, which will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., can expect to see anything from the 1900s through the mid-1980s.

"The most unusual car we've ever had was an early 1900s Franklin," he said.

There may even be Blanton's dream car there.

"It was a 1962 Chevy Impala," he said "It was the first car I ever had at 16 years old. Of all the ones I've sold, it's the one I regret selling."

Awards for the judged show are given for the top 35 cars as well as specialty awards and best of show. Registration will be taken the day of the event until noon. Cost to participate is $20.

Proceeds from the event go to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children. For more information, visit rumblingbald.com.
