Howard Dobbins, age 72

Howard Dobbins, age 72 of Spindale,  passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014. 

He was a native of Rutherford County and a son of the late Joe & Annie Toms Dobbins. Howard worked for Parton Lumber Company. He was a member of Wilson Baptist Church, a former Deacon and was the church custodian for many years. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Merle Daves Dobbins & a daughter, Debbie Padgett who passed away in 2013.

Survivors include a son, Jeff Dobbins & wife Fay of Spindale, a daughter, Tammy Hodge & husband, Reverend Ronnie Hodge of Polk Co, a grandchild who lived with him, Jessica Padgett, a brother, Dean Dobbins of Spindale & sister, Hazel Campbell of Rutherfordton. There are 7 grandchildren, Renee Howard & husband Kelvin, Jonathan Padgett, Justin Padgett, Josh Dobbins & wife Brittany, Julie Nicholson & husband David, Jessica Padgett, & Matt Dobbins was well as 3 great-grandchildren, Riley, Owen, & Ella Howard.

Funeral services were held at Wilson Baptist Church with Reverend Troy Dorsey and Reverend John Edwards officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. 

The Padgett and King Mortuary served the family.
