Hoyle Grose Long, age 92

Hoyle Grose Long, age 92 of Forest City passed away Friday, January 20, 2017.

Hoyle was born on November 25, 1924 in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Wilbur and Ethel Campbell Long. He was a lifelong member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and served in the United States Navy during World War II. Hoyle worked many years as an accountant for the Norris-Biggs Clinic where he retired. His first wife, Virginia Graham Long, and two brothers, Norris Long and Pete Long preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Evelyn Hardin Long, two sons, George Thornton of Taylors, SC and Ronnie Long of Florida. There are also 3 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

A graveside memorial service was held in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Jack Bridges officiating. Military Honors were accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, POB 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
