Hugh Anthony, age 79

Hugh Anthony, age 79, of Rutherfordton, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016.

He was the son of the late Pinkney Ray Anthony and the late Ollie Mae Black Anthony.

Hugh was a member of Oak Springs Baptist Church, retired form Reeves Brothers and worked in home construction for many years. He loved gardening, flowers and going to the flea market. Hugh was the widower to the late Mary Ann Briscoe Anthony and was preceded in death by his brother Glen Anthony and his sister Shirley Anthony Pendelton. Hugh was a US Army Veteran.

He is survived by: Three Daughters: Gina Owens and husband Steve; Kim Ritter, Heather Larsen. One Son: Chris Anthony. Two Sisters: Jane Darty and Judy Swink. Sister-in Law: Judy Anthony. Twelve Grandchildren and Six Great-Grandchildren.

The funeral service was held at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Michael Snelgrove and Reverend Mike Deese officiating.

Interment held at Southern Baptist Church Cemetery in Ruth.
