The inaugural Patriot Shoot was held recently to raise money for the Isothermal Community College Foundation.
The sporting clays event was held at the Cleghorn Gun Club, a world-class venue located on Union Road in Rutherfordton and owned by Tryon Resorts.
Fifteen teams participated in the event, which raised more than $8,000 the Isothermal Community College Foundation. The organization provides financial supports to programs of the college.
The winning team was Blue Ridge Excavating of Bostic. Second place went to RiverStone Business Park. The top individual shooter was Tim Davis with James Cowan in second place.
The Platinum Sponsor was Cleghorn Gun Club.
Gold sponsors were Canteen Vending, Lakeside Mills and RiverStone Business Park. The Silver Sponsor was Blue Ridge Excavating.
Patriot Sponsors were Walter and Lucille Dalton, James and Myra Cowan, Bob and Carolyn Keever, Turner Trucking, Maxwell B. Hamrick Insurance Agency and the N.C. Trapshooting Association Hall of Fame. There were also 15 platform sponsors.
Organizers deemed the event a success and are already planning next year's shoot.
