Irene Dodds Schlemmer, age 97

Irene Dodds Schlemmer, age 97, a resident of Forest City, NC and a former resident of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015.

She was born November 2, 1917 in Belgrade, NE and was a daughter of the late Elmer Wesley Dodds and Edith Emma Schoening Dodds. She worked as a Senior Accountant for several insurance companies and was a lifelong Methodist. Irene was a member of the Faternal Order of Eagles and enjoyed dancing. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Charles Frederick Schlemmer and brothers, Orville Dodds and Harold Dodds as well as friend and dance partner of fourteen years, Verner Melby.

Survivors include her daughter, Janet Schlemmer Hill and husband Chuck of Forest City, NC, her grandchildren, Vicky Stull of Bellevue, NE, Weston Clatanoff and wife Sandy of Mooresboro, NC, a great-grandson, Chase Clatanoff of Mooresboro, NC as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton, NE with interment following in the Fullerton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, Post Office Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043 or Community Pet Center, PO Box 623, Rutherfordton, NC 28139.
