James Thomas Gordon, born, July 27, 1941

James Thomas Gordon, born, July 27, 1941, in Rutherford County, graduated from the last class of Harris High School in 1959.

A native of Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Clyde Columbus Gordon and Willie Mae Bridges Gordon; he joined the US Army and served his country proudly for over 20 years retiring as a Sergeant First Class. After his military service, Jim worked in commercial roofing with various companies including, Carolina Roofing, Radco in Charlotte, First Choice in Myrtle Beach, and others. He worked until his illness in 2004. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Owens Gordon, brothers, Datus Gordon, Edgar "Red" Gordon, Dean Gordon, Dan Reid Gordon, sisters, Hazle Rogers, Frances Baynard, Rose Watkins, Myrtle Owens, and Ola Shytle.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Oliver Gordon of the home, daughters, Debbie McDonald and husband Carlos of Danielsville, GA, Toni McCullum and her husband Lynn of Woodstock, GA, Jamie Phillips and her husband Andrew of Harim, GA, sister, Myrlie Barrier, nieces by marriage, Susan Harton and husband Johnny, Carol Shear and husband Joe, Sandra Wilkie, Marilyn Holland, three grandchildren and some great grandchildren. Also, great neighbors who would help when needed, Dennis Kalogiros, Charles Ervin, Kevin Nance, and Terry Deck who would help with lawn care, and a caregiver, Mary Beam.

Memorial services were held at Bethany Baptist Church. Military honors were accorded by Rutherford County Honor Guard.
