James “Tony” Jeffords, age 57, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away Friday, November 8, 2013.
Born November 14, 1955 in Mecklenburg County, NC, he was a son of Reverend R.L. Jeffords of Spindale, NC and the late Dorothy Elizabeth Featherstone Jeffords. He was a machine operator for Trelleborg Industries for many years and a pattern maker at National Textiles for ten years. Tony enjoyed playing gospel music on his guitar, singing and hunting. He previously sang with the Fellowship Singers. Tony was involved with missionary relief work in Haiti taking a total of eight trips. He was a compassionate peacemaker and had a sense of humor. He loved his family dearly.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Rhonda Marie Jeffords Spears.
Besides his father, survivors include his wife of forty-one years, Della Helms Jeffords; grandson, Caleb Spears and granddaughter, Angel Spears both of the home; two brothers, Ronald Lee Jeffords and wife, Deb of Green Hill and Bobby Jeffords and wife, Sandy of Sandy Mush; two sisters, Judy Ann Jeffords of Green Hill and Kimberly Lynn Jeffords of Rutherfordton and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at the Little White Country Church with Reverend Charles Poole and Reverend Tommy Hutchins officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
