James “Wedge” Greene, age 68

James “Wedge” Greene, age 68, of Ellenboro, NC, passed away March 31, 2014. 

Born November 24, 1945 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Max Melvin Greene and Minnie Bell Sheppard Greene.  He worked for Camp’s Well and Pump Company for thirty-two years before retiring and was a faithful member of In His Hands Independent Baptist Church of Boiling Springs, NC.  He also served as a deacon at the church.  James enjoyed fishing, rabbit hunting and NASCAR.  He loved his family dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over forty-four years, Della Anita Greene; four brothers, Jesse “Doodle” Greene, Roy Greene, Robert Greene, Jerry Greene; two sisters, Mary Mathis and Ellen Irvin.

Survivors include three sons, Chris Greene and fiancée, Misty of Ellenboro, Robbie Greene and friend, Heather of Rutherfordton and Timmy Greene of Henrietta; two daughters, Pam Shade and husband, Stacey of Forest City and Janet Canipe of Ellenboro; two brothers, Clyde Greene and wife, Faye of Cliffside and Larry Greene and wife, Brenda of Mooresboro; three sisters, Hattie Banning of Cliffside, Pat Conner and husband, Zeb of Mooresboro and Shirley Humphries and husband, Jerry of Boiling Springs, NC and sister in-law, Carolyn Greene. He is also survived by two daughters-in-laws; Frankie Greene and Jennifer Moore; eighteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was conducted at In His Hands Independent Baptist Church with Reverend Donald White officiating. 

Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.

Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.
