Janice Clark Putnam, 89 of Shelby, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2012.

 A native of Cherokee County, SC, she was born on July 7, 1923, a daughter of the late R.P. Clark and Ruth Mintz Clark. She retired as a Lab Technician from Fiber Industries. She was a member of Zoar Baptist Church of Shelby. She loved to sew, quilt, garden, cook and taking care of her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sons, Thomas Devaney Putnam and Bobby Putnam; one grandson, Joseph Eury; two brothers, Bill Clark and James Robert Clark; one sister, Melba McCracken. 

She is survived by four daughters, Carol McCraw of Shelby, Nancy Jolly and husband Dan of Mooresboro, Doris Swafford and husband James of Shelby, and Marie Eury and husband Jimmy of Shelby; her grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two daughters-in-laws; many special nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services were held at 

A.C. McKinney Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Rob Helton officiating. Burial was held at Cleveland Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to the Zoar Baptist Church Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, 1740 S. Lafayette Street, Shelby, NC 28152 or a place of the donors choice.
