Janice Downey, age 68

Janice Downey, age 68, of Rutherfordton, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2016.

Born Saturday, February 14, 1948 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter to the late Jesse Lee Keeter and Eunice Louise Hawkins Keeter. She worked in retail jewelry sales and also in textiles for many years. Janice was a dedicated homemaker who loved cooking and taking care of her family. She also enjoyed growing plants and flowers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by twin infant sons, Roger and Randy Downey; one brother, Darrill Keeter and sister, Cindy Bostic; grandmother, Emma Huntsinger.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-two years, Russell Downey; son, Keith Downey and wife, Caroline of Forest City; daughter, Sonya Greene and husband, Shannon also of Forest City; brother, Alan Keeter and wife, Carla of Forest City and sister, Diane Phillips of Mooresboro. She is also survived by five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren,

A funeral service was conducted at the Long Branch Road Baptist Church with Reverend Jerry Ruppe and Reverend Tim Frashier officiating. Interment followed in Eternal Hills Memorial Park.
