Jimmie Jones Parton, 83, of Spindale, entered into his Heavenly home on July 9, 2016.

He was born in Gilkey to the late Carvos Edgar and Margaret Jones Parton. Jim was retired from Duke Power and was a US Army Veteran.

He was a graduate of R-S Central High School, attended NC State University where he played baseball and also attended Appalachian State University.

As a member of Spencer Baptist Church, he could not wait to attend Sunday school, worship and fellowship on Wednesday with those he loved dearly. Jim loved his Lord and felt blessed to be a part of Spencer Church.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Kathryn Melton Parton; daughters, Anna Parton and Marsha Lane; four grandchildren, one great granddaughter; sister, Rachel Jo Burnette and brother, Bill Parton, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Parton Robbins Thompson; sisters, Barbara P. Evans, Louise P. Walsh and Sara P. Dale.

Funeral services were held at Spencer Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Caldwell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spencer Baptist Church, 187 N. Oak Street, Spindale, NC 28160 or Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.

The family extends gratitude to the Hospice staff for the wonderful care given to Jim.

Crowe's Mortuary is assisting the family.
