JoAnn Prewitt Huskey, age 80

JoAnn Prewitt Huskey, age 80, born November 5, 1934 in Cherokee County, SC passed away May 31, 2015.

She was a longtime resident of Rutherfordton, living in the Green Hill community. JoAnn was the daughter of the late Malleree Atkinson Prewitt and Ernest Edward Prewitt. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband Captain Roy Huskey of the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department.

JoAnn is survived by her daughter Sherry D. Huskey, DVM and grandsons Jordan and Jesse Walker of Matthews, NC; son Richard A. Huskey and daughter-in-law Janice L. Huskey of Sugar Mountain, NC; sisters Gail Fite and Kay Givens; brother Jerry Prewitt and sister-in-law Sara Prewitt; nieces and nephews Lynn Pearson, Michael Prewitt, Susan Hall, Cindy Prewitt, Tony Fite, Randy Fite, Jody Givens, and Gina Givens Snider. JoAnn had a great interest in genealogy, did a significant amount of research and writing, and provided many people their family history information. She also was a talented artist, crafter, and storyteller.

She loved to read, was intelligent, funny and a friend to all. She was the center of our whole family and kept us together. We will never forget all of our family gatherings at her home and our great times at the creek. She loved her life and everyone in it. JoAnn's good nature, kind heart, generous spirit, and sense of humor will be lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and community. She will be missed every moment of every day.

Service was held in the chapel. Interment was private at Eternal Hills (formerly Sunset Memorial).
