John C. Newton, age 90

John C. Newton, age 90, of Forest City, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019.

John was born August 29, 1928 in Anderson County, SC to the late Reverend Gary Newton and Beula Farnham Newton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked as a pharmacist most of his life. John worked for Eckerd and Revco Pharmacies and co-owned pharmacies with his brother in Fayetteville, NC and Cliffside. He was also an avid fisherman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Newton.

He is survived by one daughter, Amelia Anne Newton of Spindale; two sons, Andrew Egan Newton of Johns Island, SC and James Edward Newton (Christine) of West Virginia. He is also survived by three grandsons.

A service of remembrance will be conducted at a later date and will be announced by Harrelson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
