John "J.B." Conner, age 82

John "J.B." Conner, age 82, of Union Mills, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016.

Born on Monday, August 20, 1934 in Rutherford County, he was a son to the late John Milton Conner and Willie Harris Conner. He operated a sawmill for many years and was a Baptist. J.B. enjoyed hunting and gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Mitchell Conner; son, Johnny Conner; two brothers, Charles Conner and Alvin Conner; three sisters, Alma Taylor, Ruth Epley and Hazel Brinegar.

Survivors include three daughters, Bonnie Smith and husband, Darrell of Marion, Susie Crotts of Union Mills and Missy Broadway and husband, Rick of Tennessee; three sons, Andy Conner and wife, Ann of Lake Lure, Todd Conner of Marion and Eric Conner of Rutherfordton. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.

A funeral service was conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Bro. Boyce Morgan officiating. Interment followed in the Welcome Home Baptist Church Cemetery.
