John Mark Cooper, age 57

John Mark Cooper, age 57 of Rutherfordton, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017.

Mark was born December 24, 1959 in Marion, Virginia and is the son of Catherine McGinnis Cooper of Rutherfordton and the late John Harrill Cooper. He worked in insurance sales for Alliance Insurance and was a graduate of East Rutherford High School. Mark was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, a former Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Choir. He was also a devoted and loving "Papa" to his five grandsons. In addition to this mother, he is survived by his wife, Lisa Smith Cooper, a son, Adam Cooper of Rutherfordton, two daughters, Amanda Cooper Jarrell and husband Chance of Forest City, Lindsay Cooper of Rutherfordton, two brothers, Keith Cooper of Forest City, Scott Cooper Mooresville, sister, Pam Wilkins of Haw River, NC, and five grandsons.

The funeral service was held at Liberty Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Mack Tester and Rev. Owen Duncan officiated. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
