Joseph Melvin Roper, age 70, of Ellenboro, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 19, 2013.

     Joseph was born April 1, 1943 in Burke County, NC to the late Joseph Howard Roper and Janie Johnson Roper. He worked for Sunoco Crellin Plastics, A&E Products for forty years before his retirement.  He enjoyed working on cars, but his life’s passion was spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play sports.  He was truly their biggest fan.

     Survivors include his daughter, Shelly Henderson and husband, Sam of Bostic; one son, Joey Roper of Boiling Springs, NC; two grandchildren, Brooklyn Henderson and Blake Henderson; three brothers, Gene Roper, Charles Roper, Michael Johnson and one sister, Carol Jones.

     Funeral services were conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Sam Henderson officiating.  Interment followed in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
