Joseph Richard Randall, Sr., 74, passed away Tuesday September 19, 2017.

A native of Rutherford County, born September 6, 1943 in Sandy Mush, he was the son of the late Richard Kelly and Eunice Jones Randall. He graduated from Chase High School in 1961, he started as an hourly worker for PPG Industries eventually retiring in 2004 as Director of Customer Liaison Services. During his 43-year career, his accomplishments were many. He traveled for PPG to Europe, Asia, South America, Australia, New Zealand, and Mexico in addition to most all of the United States. Joe was involved in the North Carolina Democratic Party. He was appointed to the Department of Transportation State Advisory Board and served as Chairman of the Secondary Roads Council. One of his greatest accomplishments was being the recipient of the Long Leaf Pine Award in 1985, which is the State of North Carolinas highest honor. He served 25 years on the North Carolina Aeronautical Council having being appointed by both Democrat and Republican Governors. Joe was Rutherford County Democrat Party Chairman. He was Campaign Chairman for Rutherford County when Jim Hunt ran for Lieutenant Governor and four times when Jim Hunt ran for Governor. He was a member of Cliffside Baptist Church.

Joe is survived by his beautiful wife, Brenda Williams Randall of the home; two sons, Joseph Richard Randall, Jr. and wife Jessica, Reagan Kelly Randall; two step sons, Russell Doherty, Jai Doherty and wife Katie; five grandchildren; special friends, Donald Earley and Dr. Charles James who he loved like brothers.

The Funeral service was held in the chapel of Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside. Clergy: Pastor Mike Elgin and Pastor Reese Wiggins.

Interment was held in the Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.

The family asked that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Cliffside Baptist Church Prayer Garden, 220 N Main St, Cliffside, NC 28024 in Joe's memory.

Arrangements are entrusted to Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside.
