Joyce Love Melton, 84, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2014.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Burton M. Melton and Ammie Wilson Melton and her brother, Carey Trowbridge Melton.
Joyce was born on March 22, 1929 in Rutherford County. Her parents ran the B. M. Melton Store in Caroleen where Joyce and Carey spent much time. Joyce worked for Bost Bakery as well as Housekeeping at Gardner-Webb University. She became a lifelong student attending classes when time permitted. She was blessed to become friends with a number of faculty and students who kept her young and were a big help to her in later years. Joyce lived her life to the fullest and enjoyed her network of many friends.
Joyce attended First Baptist Church in Shelby and later Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Anytime the doors were open, she was there.
Mr. Glenn Davenport and Mrs. Rachel Hamrick were faithful friends and caregivers. Surviving family members are Larry L. Chapman and wife, Jill of Pisgah Forest.
A memorial service was held at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Burial of her cremains will be in Avondale Cemetery next to her parents and loving brother at a later date.
