- W. Bridges, age 90, of Forest City passed away Friday September 21, 2018.
He was a native of Rutherford County; widow of the late Hazel Walker Bridges and son of the late James Washington Bridges Sr. and Annie Owen Bridges. God and country were an important part of J. W.'s life. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and his God at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and in the community he lived in, as well as through his involvement in the Forest City Masonic Lodge and the Shriners.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter Cindy and her husband Terry D. Hines of Forest City; one grandson; two great grandchildren; sister Virginia Moretz of Mechanicsville, Va. and a brother Robert Bridges of Rutherfordton.
A memorial service was held at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
The family request that those desiring to make donations in J. W.'s memory; do so to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
Crowe's Mortuary is serving the family.
